From a young age Keahi had a passion for the water. Growing up in the iconic surf town of Noosa, it wasn’t long before he found surfing and fell in love with it. He spent his youth surfing with mates but for him it wasn’t enough. Noosa gets amazing conditions, but there were too many down days and it was becoming too crowded for him.
That’s when he found kiting. Luckily for him his dad was involved with the sport from the beginning and ran a kiting school so naturally he picked it up. At age 11 Keahi started kiting and slowly began to find his feet in the sport competing in freestyle competitions. Despite winning an open national title at 16, freestyle just wasn’t doing it for him anymore and that’s when he re found his love for the waves after discovering kitesurfing. From then on Keahi began focusing most of his energy on wave riding, competing in wave comps and chasing swells around the world. After doing well in national wave events, he decided to start pursuing the tour. In his first year in 2011 he took the win on the PKRA wave tour and more recently won back to back world titles on the 2012 and 2013 KSP world tour.
But it still wasn’t enough for Keahi. In the meantime Keahi also got into the sport of Stand up Paddling when he was 16 and has been pushing the boundaries ever since also boasting some pretty impressive results. After a 3rd place in the Australian nationals he decided to pursue some stops on the standup world tour. In 2011 he actually scored the first perfect 10 of the Stand up world tour and in 2012 he was able to take 4th in the location X finals in the BVI’s. Today Keahi continues to juggle both sports spending his time chasing around the best conditions and pushing the boundaries.
